In 2020, it became the world’s first airport terminal to earn a Fitwel certification (a building rating system for healthy buildings) and was awarded “Best in Building Health 2021” by the Center for Active Design. Now in the final stages of a $2.4 billion renovation, Terminal 1 has been transformed into an environmentally friendly space that maximizes its use of air, water, and electricity.
